Noah Dolinsky is a portrait photographer and filmmaker based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he has lived and worked since 2014. His work explores identity, longing, and emotional presence through a cinematic lens.
Drawing inspiration from Thai street life, urban textures, and fleeting encounters, Dolinsky’s images move between moody portraiture and quiet documentary moments. Whether staged or spontaneous, his photographs resist spectacle and seek connection, often portraying those on the edges of visibility with tenderness and dignity.
Over more than a decade, his lens has found stories in alleyways, rooftops, markets, and dimly lit interiors, capturing Thai transgender women, performers, fighters, and strangers passing through the vibrant pulse of the city. His long-term focus on portraiture has been recognized through three shortlist selections for 1854 Media’s Portrait of Humanity award, with publication in the annual photobook by Hoxton Mini Press. Alongside his personal work, he has photographed editorial portraits for magazines in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States, including the 2024 cover story for Forbes Asia. His prints are held in private collections worldwide.
In addition to photography, Dolinsky has directed a trilogy of LGBTQ+-themed short films: My Name is Bella (2021), Fallen Angel (2022), and Save the Last Dance for Me (2023), which have won awards and screened at film festivals across Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Almost like “the man who fell to earth,” Dolinsky found in Bangkok both a setting and a rhythm that resonated deeply. FALLEN ANGELS, his first photobook, brings together more than ten years of portraits of Thai transgender women - a tribute to resilience, beauty, and presence.
